First day of the MagicRun Weekend.

It's 3.15 and our trip to Disneyland Paris is starting.

Around 7 we are making a stop in France to do some breakfast.
Still 2 hours to go and we are in Disneyland Paris.

We checked in at the hotel Sequoia Lodge, a real beautiful hotel.
It was my moms first time staying in this hotel.
Did see some of my RunDisney friends in the lobby of the hotel.
Love seeing my friends.

So we are set to go to the park and later that day to go to the expo.

At the park we walked around and did see Jungle Jive again.
Great show in front of the castle.
It was one of the last days you could see that show.

At 3pm the expo was open so we had to go there for my bib and race shirts.
I also pre ordered pins and the photopass so I also needed to get those.

I went pretty easy this year and that was great.
The expo was still very small but they had more merch to buy, the only part that was not so great was that all the tech running shirt were so small cut that I finally bought a bigger size.

The big wall with all our names was there again, just love that.

I made some recaps from the first day with the walk to the park, Jungle Jive and the expo.

Here are 2 links to the videos.

Did some yoga because my body needs to relax a bit.
It was nice and felt perfect.

Wednesday 9/18

Last things packing for the vacation.
Tonight we are going to Disneyland Paris.

From Thursday till Sunday we are at Disneyland Paris for the Run Weekend.

I will make some post about the trip.

MagicRun Training - 1 week before raceweekend

So this week we had again great news from Run Disney.
We have a new runweekend!!!
8-10 May 2020 we have a Princess Run Weekend and in october 2019 you can book it.
That is the only info that we got for now.
But wow I'm so happy that I can do a new run in Disneyland Paris.

Monday 9/9

Rest Day.

Tuesday 9/10

Yoga was the plan and I did it but my dogs had other Ideas so I did half of the workout.
But it was so much fun with the dogs.

Wednesday 9/11 and Thursday 9/12

Not the plan but those days became rest days.
But got some work done for the MagicRun Weekend.

Friday 9/13

I did an evening workout.
I did Hammer & Chisel - Chisel Agility.
This was a fun workout, really nice, will do this workout again.

Saturday 9/14

There was a lot going on in the park.
And it was my first run with procompression sleeves.
They are amazing.

MagicRun Training - 2 weeks before raceweekend

This week is a easy week because I didn't feel that great last Saturday.

Monday and Tuesday

Those days became extra rest days to get better, I didn't got the flu but more like a cold, I did go to work but that was the only thing I did.

Wednesday 9/4

I had some problems with my knees and feet, I don't know why because I didn't do any sport.
I also still had the cold so still no workout.

Thursday and Friday

Still not feeling 100% so still no workout for me, what kind of week is this going to be.
There is no way that I can do a training update for this week.
I got Lucky because the official MagicRun Guide came out so I could do something about that for the training update.
You can find the official guide here:
http://run.disneylandparis.com/sites/default/files/Disneyland_Paris_Run_Weekend_official_guide_2019.pdf

Saturday 9/7

Feeling ok again so I could do a workout on Sunday.
RunArnoRun already did a video about the official MagicRun Guide so I don't need to do that.

You can find the video here:

https://youtu.be/g3f_kyOpyFE

https://youtu.be/8KyOW7zrw3E

Sunday 9/8

Time to do a workout, still some breathing problems but I can do a workout.
Nothing special but it was nice to do something after a week of rest.

Here is the link to my week update with one workout:

MagicRun Training - 3 weeks before raceweekend

So this week didn't go as I hoped it would be but ok we got good and bad weeks.

Tuesday 8/27

Today I did a workout from Alexia Clark.
Was a nice one but I knew I would feel my legs with those squats.

Wednesday 8/28

Easy run day.
Easy run that was what I needed after the long run from last Sunday.

Run was 3.21K with a pace 8.26 per 1K.

Thursday and Friday

Restdays.

Saturday 8/31

It was a crosstraining day but I got a little sick while working on my fitness and hobby room.
So no workout today, got some extra sleep.

Sunday 9/1

Yep still not ok, I woke up with a bad head and a cold.
So no run today as planned.
Got to relax a while longer.

Not the week I was hoping for but ok.

Let see what we can do next week because it's only 2 weeks away from MagicRun Weekend.

Here you can find my training update on YouTube.

RunDisney Tag

I got RunDisney tagged by Running in Make-up, you can find her on instagram and YouTube.
Here is the link to her YouTube Channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSunzTicx9FqaNm30-j6LPA

There are 12 questions in this RunDisney Tag.

Here we go.

1. How did you first discover RunDisney?

I discovered RunDisney a long time ago but it was only in the USA.
In 2017 I was at the sportsbar in Disneyland Paris and there I discovered that Disneyland Paris also had RunDisney.
So there my running journey starts.

2. How many RunDisney races have you done?

I did one RunDisney race in Disneyland Paris and if you count the virtual runs with it than there are 3, the 4th is on it's way and that is the Black Panther 5K for August.

3. What was your favorite RunDisney race or race weekend?

It was my MagicRun RaceWeekend, I only did one race the 10K but I stayed there the whole weekend.

4. What's your favorite park to run through?

Disneyland Paris, it has Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios but it is so close together that it feels like you run through 1 big park.

5. What's your favorite RunDisney Medal?

The only one I got at this point and that is my MagicRun 10K medal from last year.
It's my panic and pain medal.

6. What's your favorite RunDisney shirt?

Also the only one I got and that is the one from the MagicRun 10K from last year.

7. What are 3 songs on your RunDisney playlist?

Run that Race - Dan Auerbach

Try Everything - Shakira
There is a line in this song that is my motto "I wanna try, even though I could fail".

Don't stop believin' - Journey
Always loved this song but than I saw a video by RezRuns, he is dancing and singing with is running buddy and now if I hear this song I Always thing about that video it's fun.
Here you can find that video: https://youtu.be/P_rJZlCU0V8

8. Do you go for a PR at a RunDisney race?

No I'm not a PR lady, I run for fun and I don't like to be totally out of breath, so I don't go for PR's on any race and certainly not on a RunDisney race.

9. Which characters do you Always stop for?

I like all characters so I don't have one I Always stop for, plus I only did one race and I told myself that I would stop for the first character that I saw, because I didn't know how long I had for the 10K plus I didn't know when I would be cut off.
My first character stop in a RunDisney race was Honest John and Gideon.

10. What's your favorite pre/post race meal?

Uhhh I eat everything I don't have something special to eat.
Normally on a training day (bad habit) I don't eat before the run, after the run I love to eat some toast with peanut butter but it could be something else.

11. Favorite costume in which you've run?

I didn't really run in a costume, I did more a Disney Bound style.
I had a Snow White legging and a orange nike shirt and I had a little Snow White from the Disney Animator's Collection on my shirt plus my new RunDisney cap that I got at the Expo.

12. Which costume are you most excited about running in?

I'm creating 3 costumes at the moment, for my 36K challenge in september.
I'm keeping the race theme in mind.
5K: Lion King.
10K: Fearless Princesses
21.1K: is a medal with Mickey and Minnie on it.

So just wait and you will see what I made for the races.

MagicRun Training - 4 weeks before raceweekend.

This was a weird week, no that's not it, it feels weird.
I only did 2 runs because of work and the things I needed to do in the house.
I also made my RunDisney Outfits for the MagicRun.

First run was on Wednesday.

Wednesday 8/21

Today was a film day for my last RunDisney Virtual Short Series.
The Black Panther 5K.
Video is not online yet but if will be upcoming week.

Thursday 8/22

Today I didn't do anything with sports, but what I did was sport related.
I made my running outfits for the RunDisney MagicRun.
And I'm totally happy with my running gear for september.
Just love it.

Friday 8/23

This was the day for my last long run before race weekend.
The plan was to do a half but because of constructions on the road I had to change my running route.
It wasn't a half that I ran but it was 18.90K.
It was fun and mom was with me again, sweet mom on her bike.
It was hot but I did it.
I will do long runs but the runs will be around 10/13K.
The pace of this run was: 8.45 per 1K.

Saturday 8/24 and Sunday 8/25

Were my rest days after the long run and I did some little things for the park days at MagicRun Weekend.

You can find the recap of this training week on my YouTube Channel: ConsueelRuns.
You can see my running outfits!!!!

Almost, almost, wow it is almost MagicRun Weekend.
For months you want raceweekend to be here, and now it's almost there, that you can go to the startline of the race.
Still 3 weeks to go.
Let's make it a good 3 weeks.

MagicRun Training: 5 weeks before raceweekend

The forecasts give a week with only rain.
I don't mind running in the rain but a whole week, really, yak.
We will see what it brings.

Tuesday 8/13

Yesterday was a rest day and today we are going to run a short easy run.
I was a Lucky lady today because on my run I had no rain at all.
Before my run and after there was rain again.

This week of training is going to be so much fun because I was RunDisney Tagged by a insta and YouTube friend: Running in Make-up.
Click the link to go to her YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSunzTicx9FqaNm30-j6LPA
So I need to answer some questions, in total 12 questions and all about RunDisney.

Today I did 4 questions and it made the run different than other runs.
I will do another blogpost with all the questions so you can read them in one go.

It was a 4.40K run with a 8.56 min pace per 1K.

Wednesday 8/14

Today was a cross training day and there was a lot of rain, so perfect weather to do a home workout.

I did Pilates Fix from Beachbody, it always kicks my........ , and did 2 questions.

Thursday 8/15

Again a rest day, so we could get some stuff for the RunDisney races in september.
I finally got everything complete, I only need to put it together.

Friday 8/16

Today I want to do a long run but not to many Km's because I really need to slow down for a bit.
Next week is going to be my last long run before raceweekend.
Mom was with me on her bike so I could go in to the Woods.

Did 4 questions for the RunDisney Tag, only to 2 go!!!

It was a 9.83K run with a pace of 8.27 min per 1K.

Saturday 8/17

Rest day!

Sunday 8/18

No workout today but the last 2 questions from the RunDisney Tag.

You can see the recap of this training week here:

MagicRun Training: 6 weeks before raceweekend

Only 6 weeks before raceweekend.
It's going fast now.
This week is more about cross training than running, because of work.
I'm in the nightshift from Sunday 8/4 till Friday morning so I will do 3 cross trainings and in the weekend some running.

Monday 8/5

I did yoga, the yoga fix workout from beachbody, love the coach Autumn Calabrese so it was a nice workout and perfect after the first nightshift.

Wednesday 8/7

Today my focus was on my arms, maybe you think you don't have train your arms but you need them on your runs and they need to be strong to help you on your run.
So because of the nightshifts I did a light weight workout.

Friday 8/9

This moring I came home after the last nightshift of the week.
I did the workout Tabata in the late afternoon, and it was a fun workout because one of my dogs was playing with me while I was doing the workkout.

Saturday 8/10

Finally a short run, I was trying to do my RunDisney virtual running shorts the Black Panther 5K, but my gimbal went crazy on me.
There was a lot of wind, really heavy wind.
It was a shorter run and I didn't like it I was a little mad at my gimbal.
I did 4.54K and the pace was 8.53 min per 1K.

Sunday 8/11

Time to do a long run today, mom was again on her bike, power woman she is, really really sweet that she is still going with me on my long runs.
There was still wind but not as bad as yesterday.
I didn't want to do a real long run so I made a 9K route, but mom didn't thought it was long enough so on the route I made a longer one.
It was a hard run and felt my legs after the run, I didn't die but I felt like dead.
We did 15.32K at a pace of 8.49 min per 1K.

MagicRun Training: 7 weeks before raceweekend

This week the heat wave is over but it is still hot.
There is something in the air that makes it hard to breathe.
But we had a good week of Km's.

Monday 7/29

Today is a rest day, because Sunday was the last nightshift.

Tuesday 7/30

A easy morning run today, it's always hard to run after a serie of nightshifts.
I took my time on this run just to get the feeling of running  in my legs again.
Did 5.41 K and my pace was 8.35 per 1K.
Glad I did a run but it was a bit hot and a hard run.

Wednesday 7/31

Today I'm doing a long run, didn't want to but I had to.
Glad my mom was with me again on the long run,  great company, all my stuff on her bike and it's save together.
Yesterday there was sun and beautiful, today there was a lot of wind.
We where back home before the rain started.
I did a 13.09K run with a 8.53 min pace per 1K.

Thursday 8/1

Rest Day.

Friday 8/2

Cross training day.
Plank, KB Swings, KB Power Snatches.

Saturday 8/3

Easy Run Day.
It wasn't really easy, like the whole week it was hard to breathe but now the cross training from yesterday got me sore legs.
So everything was a bit off, but ok we have good days and bad days in training, even whole weeks could be bad.
I did a 3.15K and the pace was 8.42 min.

Sunday 8/4

Plan of the run was a 10K and the Garmin training really stopped at 10.01K but the run was 11.03K.
Mom was with me on her bike so that was nice.
Part of the route was under constructions so we had to go over grass and go over the road, but it was all good.
Parts of the route where new and fun to run on.
The pace was 8.39 min per 1K.

Hard week of running but we did some great long runs.
Total Km's of the week: 36.2K.

Here you can find a recap of this training week.

Tuesday, July 30, 2019

MagicRun Training: 8 weeks before raceweekend.

Starting someting new, a weekly training update.

Last week was 8 weeks before raceweekend.

We had a heat wave in the Netherlands so I needed to change my training plan.

Monday 7/22 Was a rest day because I was at Disney on Sunday.

Tuesday 7/23 A morning run because of work, it was 26 C / 78 F. , so I did a easy run.
I made a ice bottle of water so the water stayed cold, that was really nice. I made this for the rest of the week because it was going to be hotter.
It was a really slow run with a 9 min pace for 1K, but it's ok because of the weather.
Total Km's: 5.25K

Wednesday 7/24 Today it was 31 C. / 87 F. in the morning so it's going to be a very hot day.
Later that day I was so glad that I did a morning run.
It was a shorter run than the day before but it was a better run.
Pace per Km was 8.50 min.
Total Km's: 3.20K

Thursday 7/25 No run today, today was a cross training day.
I did the 9 min killer workout 3 times, the workout is from Alexia Clark, you can find this workout on her Intagram TV.
https://www.instagram.com/alexia_clark/?hl=nl
It was an afternoon workout and on that time of day it was really hot, 38 C. / 100 F., but it was a really nice workout.
It was the hottest day in the Netherlands and tomorrow It will be the same.

Friday 7/26 last day of training this week.
Glad it was a morning run because the temp was 31 C. / 78 F. in the morning, later that day it was again 38 C. / 100 F.
Today I had a character stop, or I was her character, it was so much fun. (you can see her in my training vlog, you can click the link under this post)
It was a slower run than Wednesday but it was faster than Monday.
Pace per Km's was 8.39 min.
Total Km's: 4.61K

I'm really glad with this week, I could still run with the heat because of the morning runs and I did my cross training that was really nice.
No long run this week but next week the temps are lower so than I will do a long run.
Total Km's of the week: 13.1K.

Here you can find the recap of this training week.

What kind of races did I do from 2018 till half 2019?

We are back after a month, we had a lot going on in our private life but now we are back!!!

Here are the  races that I did from 2018 till may 2019.
Under the races you will find a link to the video recap of that race, Januari and May don't have a recap.

In 2018 I did many Virtual Runs but my first real start and finish line was an RunDisney Race.

*September 22, 2018

I did my first RunDisney Race.
The 10K MagicRun.

I did a full trip and race recap on the blog.

https://youtu.be/bcuxR6XP158

 *December 21, 2018

FunRun at Papendal, The Papendal NightRun "Christmas Edition".
My second funrun race and the first one for my friend.

The night before the race I had my last nightshift so if it was a smart move to do a run the next day, I don't know but it was a funrun.

When new year came I said I will do a medal run every month, that is the goal I made for 2019.

https://youtu.be/MPjDKzc1k2A

*Januari 22, 2019

I did a virtual run in a while.
It was the 5K  "Suck It Up Run" a virtual run by Race The Distance.
Mickey my running buddy (one of my dogs) was with me.

*Februari 2, 2019

My friend and I did the "Apres Ski Run" in our hometown.
It was also an nightrun and it was really fun to do, all the music and lights on the runners.
I love nightruns.

https://youtu.be/OUf39C1Vcfw

*March 17, 2019

I did the 10K "KLM Urban Trail Amsterdam".
I wanted to do an Urban Trail in 2018 but I was to late to book it or I had to work.
But this year I could do the one in Amsterdam my birth place.
It was a really fun run but it was so weird I had to run through restaurants and cafes.

https://youtu.be/TIvblR2j6ys

*April 22, 2019

My first half marathon was on this day, but it went all so diffrent than I had planned.
The weather was so hot and humid that it wasn't going to be ok on my first half.
At 10.45KM I got out of the race, that was the right choice at that point.
I was really sad but it was not safe enough to do the whole 21.1K.

https://youtu.be/IgdUBRIGW7g

*May 29, 2019

My second Virtual Run of the year, this time for a Rainbow heart with tinkerbell on it.
This race was also from "Race The Distance".

*June, 2019

This month the RunDisney Virtual Short Series starts.
This is the first time I'm doing the RunDisney shorts.
It means your doing a 5K in June, July and August.
June is Captain Marvel 5K.

https://youtu.be/mmgijDLaIiA

*Juny, 2019

Now it's July and I just did the Iron Man 5K.
This is fun.
The medal didn't arrive yet but when they do I will post it on my blog.

https://youtu.be/mgPc59vj0gI

                            ****************************

September is the month of RunDisney's MagicRun Weekend.
I will do my first 36K challenge.

And the plan for the last 3 months of the year are not yet complete.
But there will be some races and a Virtual Run.

Booking My New RunDisney Vacation.

Booking a RunDisney race(s) can be a stressful thing.
Like the problem I had in 2017 for my first RunDisney race.
The 5K sold out in just 30 min and that was the race I wanted to do.

So I told myself if I can book my challenge pack before the bibs only sale starts, I will do that.
You can book it through a running vacation planner but I didn't wanted to do that, with a race weekend package you also get park tickets and I don't need that because I have a annual pass.

In November '18 you could book your challenge pack in combination with a Disney Hotel stay, if you did your booking through Disney itself.
Because I'm an annual passholder I get discounts on my hotel stay and on my challenge pack.

So it was November 15 and we could book our stay for race weekend.
It became a real thing now, I am going to book my 36K challenge and I will be a part of the Disney half marathon.

There are different kind of Disney Resort Hotels.
I really love Hotel Santa Fe but I wanted something special for this run weekend.
What kind of hotel do I want, the beautiful New Port Bay Hotel or the warm Sequoia Lodge Hotel.
For this runcation I chose Sequoia Lodge Hotel, my mom had never stayed there so that is special, the pool will be open after renovation plus in september the evenings are a bit colder and they have a big and beautiful fireplace.
It is going to be magical.

When I'm in Disney I often do a diner at New Port Bay "Cape Cod" it is nice and it has really good food, so this trip will have a diner at "Cape Cod".
I booked it for 4 nights with breakfast and on Sunday the last race day, half marathon day, I will drive home later that day.

New plans can start now, and how do I stay motivated till September 2019.

Some funruns maybe, or some virtual runs.

I knew I needed to train for a half marathon and maybe to do a half marathon race.

What am I going to do for the RunDisney race, race shirt, costume or disneybound style.

So much to think about, and so much to do.

The Jeff Galloway Method

The Jeff Galloway Method.

Who is Jeff Galloway and what kind of method is that?

*About Jeff Galloway:

John Franks (jeff) Galloway is an former Olympian, he did long distance running.
Jeff designed and experimented with the run-walk-run method in 1973, the real training program began in 1976, to help non runners to become runners.

It's a running method great for people who start to run, with strategic walk breaks to control fatigue and injuries, now a days not only beginners use this method but also experienced runners.

Since September 2, 2010 is Jeff Galloway the official RunDisney training consultant, in that time also the Disney's Series changed to RunDisney.

You can meet Jeff at the RunDisney Events.

*About the method:

Run-Walk-Run

It is really that, you will run abit, walk abit and you repeat that.
There are diffrent times you can run and walk.
That's perfect for a starter.
You can start the program on a 5 sec run and a 30 sec walk.
You can get the times up till you can run a 5k all the way, if that is what you want.

The runners that I know who are using this program run for 30-45 sec and walk for 30 sec.
You also can  change the times for running and walking in your training plan.
If you feel that you need more you change your next run in 60 sec run 30 sec walk.
And so you can challenge yourself and find a great pace for your runs.

The training plan also gives you a time table so you can see if you do a 30 sec run and a 30 sec walk, how fast your mile is.

If you do the RunDisney races you need to do 1 mile in 16 min.
So you can train for it with the time table.

You can find the training program here:
https://www.rundisney.com/running-training-programs/

And that's it, it's a great way to get in to running and enjoy it.

Like me I don't want to run a 5K all the way, I want to enjoy my runs.
I think I'm still a slow runner (like Jen Lefforge told me ("no your not a slow runner, your just less fast"), so a little bit faster would be great.
I love to run a 5K in 35 min with the Jeff Galloway Method.
And I will be there but for now it's around 37/39, and that's ok.
I'm enjoying my runs and that is all that counts..

So find your training program and get your running shoes, Enjoy your run on your new journey.

Enjoy Your Running Journey.
Enjoy Your Run.

New Chapter In Running...

After a great runcation trip, I needed a new plan and new training plan.

I've seen so much at the RunDisney Trip that I had to find more about it, more info, more people just like me.

So I was searching on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
What i found was amazing, there was a whole new world waiting for me.
I became a member of many RunDisney groups on fb but wow the group that gets me going is the Joyful Miles Running Club.
Those people are just amazing and sweet.
I learned alot of stuff and seen even more about RunDisney.
I missed this part totally in my first training for the MagicRun, if I knew that this group was on fb I had meet some of them at the MagicRun Weekend because they had a meet-up.
How awesome is that but I missed it.

So I learned about the Jeff Galloway Method.
That is the run/walk method, I did that already but I didn't know there was a training plan for that.
On the RunDisney Website you can find the training plans.
www.rundisney.com
There are diffrent kind of training plans, for all the challenges of the RunDisney Weekends.
It made me so happy and I was on top of the world, because my world went from just a girl that wants to run to a girl that found her place in the world.

On my search I found out that the people that I met at Annette Diner were on the internet as youtuber and podcast host.
What great, so I went to the YouTube channel: Run Arno Run and found recaps of the MagicRun Weekend.
I even saw my mom and me in his recap of the 5K MagicRun, so funny.
Because of his channel I search more and found more, the world became bigger and bigger what a great community.

A tip if you want to know more about RunDisney and the great people how do the races, than take a look on YouTube.
Here are some great people to watch:
Joyful Miles
RunArnoRun
Rice Rice Runner
Heather Jergensen
RezRuns
Kimberly Estabrook
Run Run Rosie

The links to the amazing channels are on the rightside of the screen.

Jen Lafforge, I Run Things and Run Run Rosie became later a part of my watch list but they are amazing to, so don't forget them.
All the channels on my list are my go to list, and a part of my daily routine.

So I found everything I wanted and needed.
Now it is time to watch, learn, read and making a plan.

MagicRun Weekend Day 3 Race Day

September 22, 2018

Race Day!

Waking up at 4.15 am for a race.
I was so nervous and tense.

There was an early breakfast especially for the runners of the MagicRun Weekend.
So that was our first thing to do before getting my running clothes on.
I think that every thing was good for a runner breakfast.

After breakfast we went back to the room the get ready.
To get my running gear on.
I was so nervous and tense.
What if I can't do a 10K.
I knew I could do the run/walk, so that was not a issue for me but oooh it was so scary.

Done, so now it's time to go to the bus.
At the lobby they had some extra stuff for the runners like waterbottles and bananas.
Really I think they did a great job to make it perfect for the runners.
The bus was a bit late but I didn't worry about it, like I know Disney it's going to be ok and I will be on time for the race.
And I was very much on time for the race, Mom and I walk slowly to Disney Village.
Mom was with me all the way till we had to say goodbye for me to go to corral C and Mom to go to cheer me on at the course.
We talked about where my Mom would cheer, so it was easy to find her while running.

So there I was alone on my way to go the corrals.
Never did any race, just follow the crowd, you are going to be fine, I told myself.
A part of the walk to the corrals I really don't remember because of being to busy in my head hoping that I was going the right way.
Stupid to be so busy in your head because you have to enjoy ever little step of an RunDisney Race and there are so many RunDisney Volunteers how can help you and show you how to walk to the corrals.
And there was my corral C in the middle, I think it was a perfect place to start, not to fast and not to slow.
I thought I would be the last one to cross the finishline but that was also not true, it's so funny that we thinking so much till over thinking things.

I walked in to my corral and most of it was empty so I could walk almost to start of corral C.
I saw so many people but not in my corral, there was music and entertainment on stage at the startline.
It made me happy and I became more calm, I'm here and I'm going to do this.
Yes finally I'm going to do the RunDisney MagicRun 10K where I was training for.

First part of the race went through DisneyStudio's.
Than the course goes in to Disneyland, Discoveryland, Fantasyland, through the Castle, Frontierland and Adventureland.
After that we went outside of the park, a part of the course was backstage to come back at Disney Studio's to finish the race.

7.24 am my race starts, here we go!!!

I love it, I will see my mom in a few seconds, I know she is nevous for me, it is also her first race and her first time to be a time alone in the park and finding her way to all her cheersquat places.
Before I go in to Disney Studio's I see her, it is so nice to see her, I love it that she is here with me.
Running to Disneyland Studio's and people cheering for you is magical.

I was just following the runners and we came at Toy Story Playland, I got a photo with Rex that was the first photo on my photopass.
I had my phone with me, so I took some photo's and made some video's, so my mom could see the course.

Off to Disneyland and run through MainStreet USA and see the Castle, Epic Run.
Mom was there in the beginning of MainStreet, I gave her a kiss and went on my way again.
On the right side of the Castle was a character stop, I wanted to do at least one character stop so this was it.
There was a long line but still wanted to do it, I didn't know if other waiting lines are long so this was my stop.
Honest John and Gideon!!!
I was standing with a lady I didn't know and she ask me if I wanted to take a photo of her with the characters and she will do it for me to.
That was so nice of her so I got 2 photo of  my character stop on my phone and on my photopass.
She had to walk her 10K because of an injury on her foot.
I thought than you have to walk very fast but I didn't say it.
(she could take the time, but I didn't know that than.)

The rest of the race I didn't stop for characters but I did make photo's of them.
There are also parts of the race I really don't remember I think I was in some kind of flow, one thing that I know is I was smiling the whole race.

At the backstage area, a men came to me because his wife wanted to know where my legging came from.
Never thought I would get a question about my outfit at my Disney Run, because I didn't had a real costume, I just find a great legging with Snowwhite and the Evil Queen on it.
So that was nice, it was a couple from the USA, they where really nice people.

We got the Disneyland Studio's again and there it hit me, ooo my I'm almost done.
The 10K was gone, my 10K's in training Always took so long and now I was almost at the finishline.
Crossing the finishline got me emotional got some tears, I did it and there was my Mom behind all the statues with the photo camera.

What a lucky girl I am that I can do a RunDisney Race, that I got a change to run at the most magical place on earth....
Race was done, walking to the exit I got a RunDisney box with some food goodies, bananas and Powerade.
There are big walls with the RunDisney logo and you could get you picture with it.
I didn't do that, I don't know why but I didn't.

Mom and I wanted to see the kids races but it was to early to see it, we did go to the start for the kids but went away so we didn't see the kids do there run.
So we went to the hotel to do some relaxing and refreshing.
But we wanted to go to the park and walk around, drinking coffee and eating some great goodies.

Lets go to the magic...

The first thing we did was eating our favorite thing at the Market House Deli: Croque-Monsieur with a cup of coffee, believe me it is so delicious.
Than we just walked around the park and enjoying our time at Disney.
I didn't got my medal with me to the park, somehow I didn't knew if it was wise to take it with me, now I regret it that I didn't... So no great castle photo's with my medal.

We did our lunch at the Toad Hall Restaurant: Fish and chips and a well deserved Beer!
We love that restaurant, it's cute and the fish is delicious.
After lunch we walked around again and got out of the park because I wanted to go to the sports bar and just relax and enjoying the day.

Later we had a pasta diner at New York Hotel.
That was not a good idea, it didn't gave anything extra to that day.
If I do a Rundisney Race Weekend again I'm not going to do the pasta diner again, I will go to New Port Bay Club and eat at Cape Cod or go to Inventions at the Disneyland Hotel.

So pasta diner was a bummer on our great and magical day, but ok that happens, I got my RunDisney Medal, a amazing travel partner my Mom and a amazing weekend.

Time to get some sleep, tomorrow we drive home to my Dad who is taking care of the dogs.

You can find a recap of the MagicRun 10K here:

MagicRun Weekend Day 2

September 21, 2018

I didn't run for almost 3,5 weeks because of work and a bit of the flu, but I have to run a 10K tomorrow.
So in the early morning on our second day in Disney I ran 2.8K just to get the feeling of running again.
It was rainy and a bit cold outside but it was nice to run again and now I already did a run in Disney.

We didn't had any big plans for today because of my MagicRun tomorrow.
So we decided to go to the outlet center "La Vallee Village".
We tough that we could spent a day there because in the Netherlands we can do that.
But we're not in the Netherlands and the outlet center wasn't all that great.
Glad that there was a big shopping mall at one of the exits from the outlet so we went there.
The only shop we really see was the Primark and we did shop well.

Around noon we we're back at the hotel.
We didn't plan a park day but we went anyway only for a couple of hours.
We ended up at the sport bar and because we wanted to be in the hotel early, we did a early diner at Annette's diner.

Before the trip all the runners got a mail with discounts, a Virtual GoodieBag, but RunDisney sent it out so late that some of the runners didn't see that mail. I printed some more of the discounts so if anybody was missing out that I could give them the printed discount.
At Annette's Diner I met some runners.
Like Arno from RunArnoRun and his girlfriend plus I met Michael Gabriel from Run The Small World Podcasts (When I met them I didn't know they were on the internet but now they are a big part of my running life)

After diner we had some time before the start of the 5K MagicRun.
I wanted to see them run with all the lights and costums.
So we did walk around at Disney Village and again ended up at the sport bar, that place is really a great spot to see all the runners on there way to the corrals.
And what a amazing people are the RunDisney Runners.
There outfits/costums are so amazing and great.
I had the time of my life sitting there and just watching the runners.
The race started and people we in outfits of Disney and Marvel characters the 5K MagicRun was the Marvel theme.
Most of the runners had some lights because it's a run in the evening.
I was jealous of all the 5K runners,  it was the run I wanted to do and hoped that I could book the 5K and 10K next year.
What a beautiful sight seeing all the runners in the dark.
What a amazing Disney weekend it already was, and I still had to do my own 10K tomorrow.

So back at the hotel for a early night.
Putting my simple outfit, a Snow white legging, black longsleeve, orange nike shirt, orange socks, bib, runningbelt and a small running backpack on the bed.

Time to get some sleep!

Training for the 10K MagicRun

Yep a 10K instead of 5K MagicRun.
I hope I can run that.

Lot of training to do.
Small, short even longer runs I needed to do now.

I needed something to not lose my focus on running.
Because it was still some months before my RunDisney race.
I didn't want to go to a real startline because really I'm not a runner and not
fast enough to do a real race.
So to keep me motivated I did some Virtual runs and that was great.
Got some cute medals and did some dog jogs also for a medal.
It was working, I was motivated and everything went well.

My first long run, on the May the 4th be with you was 9,9K and the time was 1 hour and 33 minutes.
I was again proud of myself.
After that first long run I did my training between 2K and 8K.
Somehow if you do a long run, your done running, why I don't know but it happens, that 9.9K was my long run at that time.

In July I did a full 10K Virtual run and I got a Disney Castle kind of medal for it.
It was 10.2K and the time was 1 hour and 24 minutes.

Whoop Whoop my work paid of.
This is still my PR for the 10K in a training run.

(Virtual Run Site Race The Distance )

I did some extra 10K's but never got that time again.
But I knew I could do my 10K MagicRun.

At that time I didn't know what to expect at the Disney race.
I wasn't really a member of any RunDisney groups on Facebook and if I was I didn't ask things or didn't really read stuff because I still was in that mindset of not being a runner and I was to slow.
So I was looking at the pictures of outfits.
I posted my runs on instagram and Facebook so I could see what I did.

A month before the race I had to work alot and got a bit of the flu.
So running wasn't all that good.
Worrying that was something I was good at, I might be the winner off that.
Oooo my what a mess, the stress, no running, lot of night shifts at work.
Never going to get to the finish line at Disney.
I had some Disney friends on instagram and Facebook that did some Disney races.
They told me your going to be fine, you doing great, your working hard, don't worry, it is a lot of fun and you will have fun, but I didn't believe them.

Booking My Runcation

So I was in training for a 5K.
Training was so tough.

I started with a small route in the park, it wasn't a 5K but you have to start somewhere.

After a while it even became fun because I saw that I was making progress.
Never thought it would be so motivating.
Running even became therapy for me in an extremly difficult year, it kept my head on the right path and the demons away.

My first 5K (run/walk method) was in an hour, that sounds long for many of you but for me it was a victory.

I was so happy.
Weeks of training and I got it to 39 minutes. (that is still my PR in training and on a run/walk method)

Run Disneyland Paris

April came and it was time to book my race package for the RunDisney vacation.
The registration opened around 4pm, but I couldn't get on the website, it was to busy.
That was no fun at all, I was afraid I couldn't get my race bib.
After an hour trying to get on the website, I finally did.
Yes, O No the 5k was sold out.
What now?!?!
I was so bummed, I was at work and I could cry, I was so sad....

After some conversations with colleagues, I put on my big girl pants and ordered the 10K MagicRun.

10K! What did I do?! Wow that is so far and long.
For me it's like a marathon!

My training had to change to more runs in a week.
I also have a fulltime job, so I needed to do some planning, I needed more motivation to do my runs, so I did some research on the net.

What I found was amazing.

There are Virtual Runs.
You can run on your own time and you can do it in your own back yard, if you want to.
The beauty of it is, you get a medal for it and a part of the money you spent goes to a charity.
How Awesome and Motivating is that.
A training race and a medal for your effort.

There are website where you have to upload proof of the run before you get your medal, but
there are also websites where you just order your race and you get the medal.

I got some medals in de mail while I still had to do the run.
But all the medals that I have are earned not given.
I did my runs!!!

Here are my 2 go to Virtual Runs websites:

There are many more all over the globe.

But my 10K training was on!!!
